hi everyone i recently cleared out all my nail polish as i wasn't using them all and it was getting to big! i love nail polish and i always have, even though i am only 13 i have been collecting for years. i want to make it clear that i'm not trying to brag at all, ella's makeup collection went down really well (i'll be doing mines soon) so i thought why not as i love these kind of posts!

this is an overview of my nail polish storage, i have my acrylic rack which i got off of amazon and i use the mint green zoella beauty bag to store a few random polishes that don't fit on the rack :))

reds and oranges -
i used to have so many reds and oranges and i just wasn't using them! these are all slightly different colours/finishes and are all really opaque and pretty.

10 little ways to make your life happier :)

since the new year i have been feeling a lot happier and i have noticed that my pain has been a bit better! even if you aren't necessarily feeling down i feel like these tips could make you even happier ;)

number one - treats
don't get into a routine of having a lovely bath every night or your favourite food every day as it will lose it's purpose and isn't really a treat anymore. so now instead of having a hot chocolate every night, i only have it on a sunday and go all out and it definitley feels like a proper treat and it actually makes me feel happier than having it all the time

number two - sleep
i have recently started going to sleep earlier and waking up earlier and it really has made a difference with my mood and fatigue. studies show that between 10 and 12pm is when you get your best sleep, so i have been shutting down electroinc devices at 9.30pm and reading for half an hour and then waking up at between 8-9am. i also wake up very slowly and that makes a massive difference and sets you up for the day calmly.

number three - inspirational quotes
a few weeks after new year i started to feel that 'new year motivation' was going, so i went on pinterest and found a bunch of insporational quotes and pinned them. so if i'm ever feeling a bit down or sometimes just in the morning to start off the day! this really makes me feel determined and happier and just ready to concur the world!

number four - goals
set yourself goals, daily weekly monthly whatever works for you. I am always setting goals for many different things wether it be passing a test in school or learning a new dance move, make it personal. also reward yourself with something when you accomplish a goal and that will encourage you do set more goals and achieve more. this makes me feel so good inside when I see progress and it makes me more productive and determined.

number five - appreciate things
i know i have changed for the better since i have a chronic illness but i feel like everyone (including me) takes things for granted. recently i have really appreciated the simple but the best things in life such as family and friends and just having a good chat in person. as much as i love my internet friends there is nothing like catching up with your friend at your house!

number six - do things you want to do
this is a pretty obvious one, but don't live your life for other people. do everything for you and do things that you enjoy and make you happy :)

number seven - get fresh air
i am not the type of person who is always outside, but this is one of my aims once the weather gets warmer and i done this in about october and just went for a walk with my friend round a local park and it really done me good and i really enjoyed it. i think it's good to kind of slip away from reality a bit <3

number eight - make other people happy
last week i was feeling really good and thought of all the people who could be struggling, so i made a few edits and wrote a really long caption for my spoonie youtubers! they appriciated it so much and it made me feel so good. also don't always expect something back, but always treat others the way you want to be treated ;)). i also done a internet best friend appreciation post thing and i ended up making my friend cry!(in a good way)

number nine - be organised
stress is something that everyone experiences at some point and it really does make you unhappier and just down if you are really organised. everything doesn't have to be neat or you need to get all new things, but if you just plan ahead it will make a massive difference. leave a comment below if you want me to do a blog post on organisation ;)

number ten - take care of yourself
this means to take time out for yourself to relax and de stress no matter how busy you are. i like to have a lovely deep hot bath with some bath treats at least once a week! every night i always have about 2 hours to myself watching youtube in bed and just chilling :)

thank you for reading this post, leave a comment if you would like to see more posts like these and have a good day xx - em <3

Easy ways to spice up your room for spring

hi, hope you are all well,
recently i have been decorating my room and trying out a few diys and i thought that i could share them with you

i have created 5 diys to show you and also some other bits you can buy.
~ disclaimer ~
I didn't make all of these diys up, some are trying to recreate high street pieces and others are diys that other people have done but i will give credit.

diy/idea 1) mason jar pots
you will need:
- mason jars (i got off amazon)
- spray paint of any colour (off amazon)
- fake flowers (i don't have any in the picture but this is optional)

anastasia (floral princess) did this diy on her youtube channel and i really like it. this is a really easy diy and looks really good
step 1. all i did for this diy was spray the mason jars copper, white and pink. you can use any colours that match your room - i think that grey gold and white would go really nicely together. i left them to dry overnight then in the morning sprayed the bottom. it's up to you whether you spray the inside, i did but i do t think it makes much of a difference.

i did the same thing with my pencil holder and that looks really cool. do this diy with anything you want to change the colour of as it's such and easy alternative to buying a new one.

diy/idea 2) typography
you will need:
- picture frame of any size (IKEA) i used a4 and a5

loads of people have done this diy but typography looks really good. i did 2 of these and i'll show you how to create both.
step 1) go on the Internet and choose a quote or saying that you like and all i did for was print it and put it into the frame
step 2 - change size) to change the size of the picture drag it into pages (or word) and resize and print form there.

i saw something similar to this on pinterest and thought i could recreate it.
this was really easy to do and free.
step 1) go onto pages or word and draw any coloured square you want (i chose blue)
step 2) go onto picmonkey.com and click design, select text and type in smile (or any other words you want) choose a font (i chose impact) and screenshot. insert this into pages/word and add a border of 4pt. if you can't screenshot just type in 'word smile' into google images and drag  the one you want into your document.
step 3) type in 'drawing of girl with camera' or any picture you think is suitable and make the background transparent and make the picture black and white.

diy/idea 3) decorating files
you will need:
- files (IKEA) any colour
- paint sample cards (b&q)

i came up with this idea myself and i was surprised with how it turned out!
step 1) cut the names of colour paint off and throw away, you don't need theses
step 2) place your first colour in the corner anyway you want (make sure that it's lined up)
step 3) repeat steps 1 and 2 until your file is filled, making sure the gaps always have a colour underneath them. i only did the end but you can cover the whole file if you want.

diy/idea 4) polaroid collage
you will need:
- polaroids or any photos
- big picture frame (IKEA) mine is 50x40cm
- any kind of paper for background (this is optional) i used wrapping paper from paper chase
- double sided tape , glue or bluetack

i also came up with this idea as I had nowhere to put my polaroids and it looks really nice on my wall + a great way to add colour to my room.
step 1) take apart your picture frame and cover the background in any paper of your choice and use bluetack or double sided tape to stick it down
step 2) arrange you polaroids/pictures in any way you want then stick them down
step 3) put back on the frame and hang on your wall

you can also do this with a smaller frame and only one picture!

diy/idea 5) photo shelf
you will need:
- picture frames of different sizes (and colours) (IKEA)
- picture shelf (IKEA)

i haven't put any pictures in the frames yet but you can put anything that matches.
step 1) choose the pictures you want in the frames - some ideas are typography, personal photos, photography photos, pictures other people have taken, quotes
step 2) arrange the photos on your shelf in any way you want
i like how these look on a shelf as it is unusual. i saw this in IKEA and recreated it.

some other ways of adding decor to your room is plants, fairy lights, candles, pots/vases, flowers, découpage letters or wire letters, ornaments, posters.
i hope this inspired you to try out any of these ideas and if you do let me know!

brand focus - benefit

hi everyone this post is going to be apart of a new 'series' i am going to be doing called 'brand focus' where i basically review a few products from a certain brand. this won't be a regular series just now and then, please leave your opinions of this post and any brands you would like me to review. this post is going to be focusing on the brand, benefit this is a high end brand available on online or in most department stores. at christmas i got a benefit gift set which is where the majority of these products are from so not all of the products are in their original packaging.
enjoy <3

the gift set i got for christmas was the pump up the party one, which i believe was around £27.50. this includes a mini benetint, mini high beam, rockateur blush, mini rollerlash, mini porefessional and 4 eye shadows.

benetint
benetint i have not mastered yet to apply, as i am not quick enough! you can use this two different ways by putting it on your cheeks or lips. on your lips it basically tints your lips a 'better than your natural lip colour' colour which is perfect for a natural makeup look. i don't really use this on my cheeks as i've found it doesn't really blend when you apply it which is a shame as i think it would be really pretty.
i rate this - 5/10

highbeam
i absolutely love this highlighter, i am so tempted to buy a full size one. i don't use highlight everyday but when i do it is this one! it isn't too pinky or glittery and is very flattering on my skin tone. it is also a lovely consistency and blends really nicely, however it's really easy to go overboard with this a little goes a long way. the only other negative is that it's quite hard to apply to other areas other than your cheekbones, but i only really focus on my cheekbones anyway when highlighing and then put the excess on other areas!
i rate this 8/10

eyeshadows

these eye shadows are actually really good! benefit aren't really known for their eye shadows but they should be the formula and pigmentation is just amazing. it's a lovely almost creamy formula and for just glides on so nice on the eyelid.

milk it! - this is a gorgeous highlight colour, it is very white and isn't the most natural however if you blend it in it looks a lot better. this is so incredibly pigmented and there isn't really any fall out!
i rate this - 7/10

it's complicated - i don't really use this colour as it makes my eyes look like they are burning so it's not my favourite!
i rate this - 2/10

nude swings - i absolutley love this shade it is just so stunning! i share this every time i wear eye shadow, i put it in the crease and just creates a simple yet gorgeous eye look. i cannot rave about this enough, it is my perfect eye shadow shade!
i rate this - 10/10

kiss me, i'm tipsy - this is also a really pretty shade and is perfect to darken up the crease. i don't wear this a lot as i prefer more natural makeup but i think it's so gorgeous!
i rate this - 7/10

rockateur
this is a gorgeous matte blusher, it's quite dark but it actually looks flattering on pale skin tones! i think this would look really pretty especially in the summer. like all benefit makeup this is highly pigmented. even though it's in a gift set you actually get a lot of product, a little definitley goes a long way with this!
i rate this - 8/10

mascaras

benefit mascara's are probably the best i have tried. they can be pricey, but you can get a mini version from boots for £5.00 which actually lasts a long time! the wands on both of these are so unusual and just make the eyelashes so beautiful.

roller lash - this mascara is so lovely, even though it makes your lashes super long and curled it is a more natural option to they're real. this doesn't clump at all and is so easy to apply and keeps the curl, which is a problem that i've had with quite a few mascaras. also the packaging is so cute and the mini size makes it perfect for travel.
i rate this - 10/10

they're real - this mascara truly does make your eye lashes look like false eyelashes. the wand looks so weird but it does an amazing job, the little spiky bit at the end of the wand makes it easy to catch smaller eyelashes. i don't wear this day to day but if i'm going somewhere special this is what i wear.
i rate this - 10/10

porefessional

if you are unfamiliar with the porefessional it's a primer which is meant to reduce the appearance of pores and basically smooth out your skin leaving a flawless finish. i think this does a great job, i don't have big pores or that many spots so i can't really do a proper review on this but i think it makes my makeup last better and sits on my skin nicer.
i rate this - 7/10

thank you for reading this post, i really enjoyed trying and reviewing these products. - em <3

five ways to spice up your room

hi everyone recently i got my room redecorated and realised that it wasn't until i added the little things that it really came together and made it very homey so i thought i would share them! i am only going to mention five things in this post but i may do another if you would like that? also i am so sorry we haven't posted in a while, we have just been figuring out our schedule and ella and i haven't been well. hope you enjoy this post ;)) <3

number one
the first way to spice up your room is by adding a few throw pillows to your bed. i have five different ones, two blue ones, two silver ones and then a white sparkly one to tie it together. this is a great way to add a bit more colour to your bed and it makes a massive difference to your room especially if your bed is the first thing you see when you walk in your room.

number two
another way to spice up your room is to add these hanging pots which i use to store my makeup/nail art brushes. this is a really nice decorative piece but also practical, especially if you have a small desk or just a shelf so it gets everything out the way and not cluttered. you can use this to store loads of things but i have just found brushes is the most useful for me :))
things you need to do this -
  • pole, from ikea
  • pots, from ikea
  • brackets, from ikea (kitchen section)
  • fairy lights, from ikea

number three
the third way to spice up your room is by displaying your nail polishes on a nail polish rack/stand. i recently bought this acrylic nail polish stand from amazon and it was actually quite inexpensive however some acrylic storage can get expensive. this is another great way to add colour to your room and is also storing things. it also makes you use different nail polishes which you might of forgotten about if it was in a box, so it's a win win situation!

number four
another way i have spiced up my room is by putting a few "coffee table books" on display. so basically put a few books that have really nice packaging and are a bit like a magazine where you don't need to read it in order. the books i displayed are; the glam guide by fleur de force, love tanya by tanya burr and lauren conrad style by lauren conrad. these look super pretty and is a lovely way to make a jazz up a boring table!

number five
the last way to spice up your room is by putting a few of your favourtie beauty products on a skura plate. this is so pretty and i get loads of complements on it. this is also so easy to do and very inexpensive. this sits on top of my little chest of drawers where i store all my beauty things and it just looks so gorgeous on there!
things you need to do this -

  • skura plate from ikea
  • pearl beads from home bargains
i placed three beauty products on there, a mini jack wills body spray in the original scent, a sally hansen nail polish which is sadly discontinued and a loreal colour riche lipstick in the shade j'los nude.

hope you liked this blog post, please comment your thoughts and if you want more posts on my new bedroom. - em <3

Evening out makeup

i went out for a meal yesterday and i really liked how my makeup looked so i thought I would share with you how I created it

1) the first thing i did was use the rimmel london lasting finish foundation in the shade 010 light porcelain and i just put it all over my face and blended with my fingers. this foundation is so amazing and gives really good coverage. i think it was £8/9 which is really good. i have a mac foundation but it really stings my skin and makes it red, i've heard other people complain about this too and this is a much cheaper alternative which is so much better for my skin. it may be different for your skin type but i would definitely opt for any rimmel london foundation over mac

2) next i set my foundation with the rimmel london stay matte pressed powder in the shade 003. sometimes i use the collection pressed powder in the shade 18 ivory. i don't have a preferred powder as both powders are perfect for me and are a similar price (£3/4). i use the studio powder brush. i know this brush isn't an expensive brush at all but it does the same quality job as any other powder brush from real techniques or mac. it's up to you what brand you want to go for personally but i think people get so caught up in this thing with brands and trying to impress people that they can afford everything. to me there isn't a difference, i would rather pay less money

3) before doing my eyes i put chapstick on as i have really chapped lips at the moment

4) then i used the black out of the revolution flawless palette and the mua eyeshadow in the shades copper and champagne to create a kind of smoky eye

5) for mascara i used a mix of the rimmel london super curler and the benefit bad gal to create this look. these 2 mascaras are really good for making your lashes look thicker and longer

6) you can't see this but on my lips i used a mac lipstick in the shade teddy bear

january favourites

hi everyone, hope you are all well i am going to be sharing a few of the things i have been loving during january.

beauty

e45 lotion
this is a moisturiser which is actually meant for eczema i think but it is great for winter when my skin gets very dry. i usually just use this at night as it is very heavy moisturiser which is leaves your skin looking very oily! but it doesn't matter if you put it on in the house. i have literally used this every single day in january and my skin has been feeling so silky soft.

jack wills lip crayon
i have been wearing this jack wills lip crayon like crazy this month. it just gives a lovely soft pink colour to your lips which is also very moisturising. i got this in a christmas gift set, so i'm not too sure if you can get this anymore but i'm sure you will be able to find something similar.

vasaline
i have used vasaline for ages now but this month i have been using it constantly for different uses. the first thing i have used this for is to lengthen my eyelashes and also condition them. i also use it to moisture my cuticles and of course on my lips! i have it in the original, the aloe vera one and the pink one which gives a gorgeous rosy tint to your lips.

soap and glory - the righteous butter
this month i have started using body lotions/body butters and this soap and glory one has been my favourite. i got this also in a gift set so it was a little travel size, but i am tempted to buy the bigger size! this is quite a thick but is very moisturising which is perfect for the colder months.

the body shop - strawberry shower gel
i also got this in a gift set and have just started using it towards the end of january and i absolutely love it. it smells so so nice and it foams great and is just a great shower gel.

gemspa calming amber hand cream
as it's getting really cold and my hands are getting dry i have been using a hand cream every night and it has definitely helped. this has such a relaxing smell and it honestly just is so calming, the name is true! anyway it isn't too thick and greasy but still very moisturising.

social media

youtube
i have loved jill, remi and tara's cruise vlogs, they were just hilarious and i wished i was there with them ahaha. their vlog channels are - remilife, taramichellevlogs and extrajill. another youtube favourite are swap box videos, i honestly think i have watched every swap box video on youtube now! i don't know what it is about them that i just love!

instagram
i have loved instagram as always and have found a few new accounts and also have been loving some new themes.
  • @megsays_ - i have been following meg for a while now and she recently went to budapest and her new theme is just so good and her photography is so beautiful!
  • @anastasiabeverlyhills - i was looking for a new beauty account and i noticed this account which not only feautures their own products they repost tutorials and looks very regularly which is great!
  • @hudabeauty - this is another beauty account which i have just discovered and this is run by popular makeup artist who not only posts pictures of her makeup looks she reposts things aswell
  • @lilyellaburt ella is a smallish youtuber who posts mainly makeup, pictures of herself and a few photography shots. although she has 20k, ella isn't really talked about that much so i thought i would mention her :))
music
i haven't really been listening to loads of music this month but i have been loving a few songs/people.

  • history by one direction - this song is sooo good i have been listening to this on repeat and i just love it so much!!
  • locked away by r city and adam lavine - this always seems to be playing on the radio on my way to school for some reason, but i'm not complaining! love this song
  • stiches by shawn mendes - i have listened to a few of shawn's songs before but this one has topped them all it's so good!
  • lush life by zara larsson - i have heard this song in so many youtube videos and now i finally know it's name. it's just an amazing catchy song!
  • justin bieber - i have been loving justin bieber so much this month, his album is just live and i listen to it all the time!

random

i have a few bits and bobs which don't really fit in a category coming up for you such as fashion items, a book and a little essential for me.

handbag
my handbag of the month has been this gorgeous cream handbag from new look. i purchased this in december with my christmas money and have been using it since. the size is just perfect for me and it goes with every outfit.
if you are looking to buy this the details are - cream weave panel mini tote bag £17.99

jumper
i have been wearing this fluffy jumper from matalan like crazy this month it is so soft and cosy. it is always really easy to wear and perfect for out and about or just a lazy day at home. unfortunately i can't find this online but you might spot it in store.
*exuse my hair!*

book
this month i have started reading again which is a massive achievement, the book i have been reading is the glam guide by fleur de force. this offers beauty and fashion advice as well as general life advice. it is very interesting and i love how you can just pick it up and have a little flick through.

hand sanitizer
my hands are very sensitive, so washing my hands all the time was just making my pain worse so i picked up a few hand sanitizers from primark for £1 each. they come in loads of different scents and are now an essential for me. this one is in daisy chain which smells beautiful just like flowers and has the prettiest packaging.

that's all the things i have been loving throughout the month of january, i would love to know some of your favourites so make sure you comment below! have a lovely day - em <3
