spring makeup

happy friday!! today's post is going to be all about my favourite spring makeup products, enjoy <3

skincare : before i start applying any makeup i always start with a bit of skincare to prep my skin. i use the garnier micellar to cleanse my skin and then moisturise with the oilatum moistursiser. finally i just put a little bit of the simple eye roller under my eyes do make me feel more awake.

base : first of all i prime my face with the porefessional by benefit. then i put some high beam highlighter from benefit under my eyes to brighten. to cover my dark circles i use the rimmel wake me up concealer and i also use this on any blemishes and around my nose.

next i dust some of the stay matte translusent powder by rimmel all over my face to set my previous makeup. then i put a bit of the maybelline dream pure bb cream and blend it in with my fingers to give it more of a natural look. after that then i put some more of the powder all over my face to set my bb cream.

face : first of all i apply some bronzer on my cheeks, jaw line and temples and i blend that out with a big fluffy brush. sometimes i go in again with a bit more as i only out a tiny bit on as its quite hard to blend. if you were wondering which bronzer i used it's the w7 honolulu bronzer which is available from amazon, b&m or tk max. next i go in with a bit of the max factor creme puff blush on the apples of my cheeks, which gives a lovely natural flush. finally i put some of the benefit high beam on the top of my cheek bones, under my brow bone and on my cupids bow. recently i have really been loving highlight, i find it makes you look so much healthier. definitley a step i wont be missing out this spring/summer!

eyes + lips : for eyeshadow i tent to stick to pinky/gold shadows since its spring. i used the makeup revolution essential shimmers palette and the benefit pump up the party gift set. before i put any eyeshadow on i prime my eyes using some concealer and i just put a little bit of powder on, now for the fun bit! i pop a bit of the champagne colour all over my lid (second from the bottom left on makeup revolution palette) then i take a mixture of the peachy colour with the light brown (the two middle colours in the benefit quad) just in my crease to give a bit of definition but not anything smokey. to finish off i add a mixture of the bottom two white colours on both palletes in the inner corner to highlight and the inner third of the eye. 

to finish off the eye look, i curl my lashes and then apply some of this superdry mascara. finally to complete the spring makeup look, i put on the mua sweet sheen lip balm in peach dream.

how to wash makeup brushes with baby shampoo + tips

cleaning makeup brushes is a very important step that a lot of people forget about. this can really make a difference do your skin and they also apply product better when they are clean.

things you will need :

• an old towel 
• baby shampoo
• some warm water
• cotton pads

for big brushes like this real techniques blush brush :

dip the brush into the water then put a blob of baby shampoo on your hand and swirl it in your hand, then repeat. the dip it again in the water and swirl the brush on your towel, repeat this step until there is no shampoo on the brush. after that then squeeze out the majority of the water and leave it to dry.

for smaller brushes like this real techniques base shadow brush :

dip the brush into the water and then put a little bit of baby shampoo on a cotton swirl it. then dip it again in water and get rid of all of the shampoo by swirling it on a cotton pad. then leave it to dry.

drying your brushes :

the way you dry your brushes makes a massive difference to how long they last. so please follow these steps and your makeup brushes will last years.
when drying them the worst thing is to keep the brush facing up, as the water creeps into the actual brush bit where the hairs start and prevents them from lasting longer. it's best to keep them either just lying down or elevating the end of the brush so its hairs are facing down. another thing to watch out for is the place you leave them to dry, it's best to keep them in a dry place where there is no steam so basically anywhere apart from the bathroom! drying time can depend on the size of brush, for small brushes it usually takes about 6 hours and for bigger brushes it can take at least 18 hours. these times can vary but i would definitley ring your brushes out as it makes a massive difference to how long it takes.

Spring Morning Routine

so over on our instagram https://www.instagram.com/emnella.x/ i asked you all what posts you would like to see on our blog. a few of you suggested a morning routine so that is what i'm going to do for todays post.

so the first thing i do in the morning after i wake up is go into the bathroom and either take a shower or cleanse and moisturise my face, this depends on when i last had a shower and if my hair needs washing or not. the products i use in the morning are:

- in the shower: on my hair i use the TRESemmé keratin smooth shampoo and conditioner and the shower gel i use is the Baylis & Harding  limited edition body wash

- on my face: for cleanser i use the no7 soft and soothed daily cleanser and for moisturiser i use the lush celestial facial moisturiser.

the 2nd thing i do in the morning is go and get my phone and/or laptop and listen to music and read a book. then i will go on my phone and look at my social media and i will watch some youtube.

after i have looked through my phone, i go down stairs and get breakfast which is usually waffles and fruit at the weekend.

i then get dressed. today i decided to wear a black and white striped crop top from forever 21 (http://www.forever21.com/UK/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=top_crop-tops&ProductID=2000164577&VariantID=)and a pair of blue jeans from boohoo (http://www.boohoo.com/new-in/olivia-high-rise-plain-waisted-tube-jeans/invt/dzz84228). then i put on my makeup which is usually just foundation, mascara, lipstick and sometimes eyeliner. then depends on what my outfit is i curl, straighten or just leave my hair how it is but today i decided to curl it.

makeup collection - face + eyes

hi everyone I'm going to be doing a very requested post today.... a makeup collection! there is going to be two parts of my makeup collection, face and eyes and lips. i won't go into that much detail as i don't want it to be too long but if you want more of a review on certain product please just leave a comment and i will be sure to do a post all about it :)

this is my makeup storage area, I use the HELMER drawer unit from ikea to store all of my makeup and just general beauty products. I only use the top three drawers for makeup, so I'm only going to show the top two drawers as he third drawer holds my palettes which I'm going to do a separate post on them. anyway this unit works really well for me and doesn't take up too much room which is a plus!

on top of my drawers I just keep a just pink room diffuser from next which smells amazing, two candles from primark and a little skura plate. on my skura plate I have a mini jack wills body spray, a l'oreal lipstick and a sally hansen nail polish.  

eyes 

♡ superdry mascara - which makes your lashes so long but it still looks like your eyelashes
♡ maybeline the falsies - this one is really volumising but it also lengthens, however this does clump quite a lot
♡ clinique high impact mini mascara - I got this is a magazine and it is such a lovely natural mascara for everyday wear
♡ benefit they're real mini mascara - this mascara has the most unusual wand which works wonders to your lashes, this is an all in one and doesnt clump!

♡ benefit roller lash mini mascara - I use this for school and it is so curling and lengthening and it doesn't clump at all

♡ superdry eye marker - I don't really wear eyeliner but this is great for experimenting with and it works really well, but it's drying up 

♡ collection fast stroke liquid liner - I used this for my dance show and it makes liquid eyeliner so easy, again I don't wear eyeliner normally but if I do i will use this

♡ model co coal eyeliner in black - I got this in a magazine and its really good but again I don't really use it but it's handy to have

♡ makeup revolution single eye shadow base - this is a white shimmery eyeshadow which I use to put in the inner corner of my eye

face
♡ maybeline baby skin anti fatigue primern in warm apricot - this is the primer i use everyday as it makes my skin look really awake and it helps my makeup last longer
♡ rimmel london wake me up concealer in ivory - this concealer is the best one that i have tried but still not my perfect one
♡ simple revitlising eye roller - even though most people don't do this step it does make a difference and it makes you feel really awake and refreshed
♡ maybeline dream pure bb cream in light - i really like this bb cream, it matches me really well and helps even out my skin tone
♡ benefit porefessional mini - i personally don't have big pores so i can't comment on that but it does make your skin super soft and makes your makeup last longer
♡ benefit benetint mini - i dont really like this on my cheeks however it is really nice to add a bit of colour to your lips
♡ benefit highbeam mini - this highlighter is honestly amazing, i am so tempted to buy the full size!
♡ superdry liquid highlighter - i love this highlighter on my cheeks but not anywhere else as it can get glittery

♡ rimmel london stay matte powder in translucent - this is the best mattifying powder out there, use this everyday just amazing
♡ maybeline dream matte mousse in 05 porcelain - i love this foundation its really light on your skin however it does give you a decent amount of coverage
♡ loreal mousse foundation (discintinued now)

♡ makeup revolution blushing hearts triple baked blusher - this is such a lovely blusher it gives such a pretty glow to your cheek bones aswell as a flush, will need to try out more shades
♡ max factor creme puff blush - this is also so pretty, it's a pinky colour baked with a bronze colour which is a perfect blush for summer
♡ w7 honolulu bronzer - i got this on amazon as it was only like a pound, it doesn't blend well and is too dark for me so i don't really use it

1• how did you get one of your scars?

i was putting something on the bottom shelf of the oven and forgot to pull the rack out and i burnt my wrist on the top rack

2• how did you spend your last birthday?

me and my three best friends at the time (i've fallen out with one of them) went out for dinner and then had a sleepover. it was one of the best weekends i've had

3• how am i feeling at this moment?

i'm actually feeling quite happy as my internet friend just sent me something really nice

4• how did your night go last night?

i spent last night with my family playing badminton and it was really nice to actually spend time with them

i don't know if this means american or english schools but i'm only in year 8 so obviously i haven't finished high school I either systems

i bought it from forever 21 if that is what the question is asking (i don't really know!)

everyday at school, one is in my form and the other i have lunch with everyday

lipstick wise I have been loving the makeup revolution iconic pro lipstick in the shade 'you're a star'. it's such a lovely browny nude with a pink undertone.

I'm going to make this my non beauty fashion essentials, so I would say my phone for taking photos and smoothies. I have really been getting into photography lately and now that it's getting warmer I can get out and take photos. I have also been loving having smoothies as they are really freshing and yummy.

I love the zoella beauty let's spritz body mist as it isn't really strong but it does smell amazing, very fresh and fruity perfect for spring.

Drugstore beauty favourites - Spring

hi guys,

recently i've been loving a few products and i thought i would share them with you. these products are all ones i've recently purchased for spring and i love them! also sorry this blog post is a day late i had a concert last night x

i'm going to share my favourite face, eye and lip products

face products

foundation - my favourite foundation recently has been the rimmel london lasting finish (this is the one with the red lid). my face products haven't really changed as i tend to just repurchase until i find something better. anyway i think this foundation is amazing, it is a medium coverage foundation but leaves you skin looking natural and flawless and it lasts forever. i don't actually wear foundation that much but when i'm going out somewhere i will.

concealer - i love the rimmel london wake me up concealer as i have pale skin and i often get quite dark circles under my eyes. the concealer i used to use was miss sporty perfect stay but i found that even the lightest shade looked orange in my skin so i tried out this and it surprised me! one thing i would say is us a brus or a beauty blender to blend it otherwise i found it cakes but otherwise this is a great concealer.

powder - i use the maybelline matte maker powder to set my makeup and it works fine on my foundation and concealer and doesn't cake. i would recommend this powder, the collection pressed powder or the rimmel london stay matte powder, they all work really well.

blush - i have two favourite blushes for spring, the first being the mua blush in the shade cupcake. the mua blushes are really pigmented and they blend really easily, this blush is also a really good price as it's only £1. my other favourite blush is the rimmel london lasting finish mono blush in the shade pink rose. this blush gives a really nice natural pink glow and isn't shimmery so it's perfect for daytime.

contour/highlighter - i don't wear contour as i haven't really found a contour that doesn't turn out orange on me. sometimes i wear highlighter in the spring and summer months to add an extra glow. my favourite is probably the makeup revolution golden lights highlighter. it's quite pigmented and has a little shimmer in office i think looks really nice and natural.

eye products

eye shadows - i have a few eyeshadow that i really like and that i think are perfect for spring: i really like the rimmel london 5 pan eyeshadow palettes and the pinkadilly circus palette is probably my favourite as you can create a really natural eye look or you can create a heavy eye look. i prefere a more natural look and the pinks in this are perfect. I have 2 favourites from mua and they are the mono eye shadows in the shades champagne and oyster. all of the mua eyeshadows are super pigmented and really shimmery and this is why i love them. they are also amazing for the price.

eyeliner - i don't wear eyeliner that often but when i do i wear the collection fast stroke eyeliner. i love this eyeliner as i'm not very good but the brush size is perfect and makes it a lot easier.

mascara - mascara is my most used makeup product as i wear it everyday for school and whenever I'm going out. anyway i always wear the rimmel london super curler mascara. not many people think this is a good mascara but i do. it definitely works a lot better on top of another mascara but if you are going for a natural look this is perfect.

lip products

lipstick - the max factor colour elixir lipsticks are definitely my favourites especially the shade angle pink 610. this is such a pretty pink shade and it's also really natural. the lipsticks are really pigmented which i love and this is perfect for spring!

nail polish collection - part two

different glitter and speckled top coats are just so much fun and jazz up any boring polish. you can even wear them on your own if you like! the majority of these are fairly inexpensive which is always a plus, but i definitley love a good glitter/speckled top coat!
